As proof that the primary purpose of the visible side of what is going on at SecureMecca.com is the blocked cookie lis I provide this script that the PAC filter now blocks (everything between the "===" lines: ======================================================================== var ycsdone; function geovisit() { var z; if (ycsdone) return; z="&r="+escape(document.referrer); z=z+"&b="+escape(navigator.appName+" "+navigator.appVersion); w=parseFloat(navigator.appVersion); if (w > 2.0) { z=z+"&s="+screen.width+"x"+screen.height; z=z+"&o="+navigator.platform; v="1.2"; if (navigator.appName != "Netscape") { z=z+"&c="+screen.colorDepth; } else { z=z+"&c="+screen.pixelDepth } z=z+"&j="+navigator.javaEnabled(); } else { v=1.0; } z=z+"&v="+v; document.writeln(""); ycsdone=1; } ======================================================================== AFAIK, NOBODY is using my hosts file. I have a half dozen to a dozen people playing with the PAC filter per year and none of them listened to me when I told them my hosts file picks up the slack for the hosts that are in the GoodDomains sections for the trackers. If what they want is to block ads I tell them either of the two major ABP (AdBlockPlus) filter sets beats me hands down at blocking ads: 1. FanBoy-AdBlock & FanBoy-Tracking (most common) 2. EasyList & EasyPrivacy (what I use) But blocking ads has always been way down on my priority list: http://securemecca.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html http://securemecca.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-direction.html So when somebody calling himself Alexander Kowalski is trying to trump up a law-suit against me, I am baffled. I can't talk one person that I know personally into using what I have. One sister did allow it to be put on and demanded it be taken off. Another person had them a long time ago but I assume that when they updated to a new machine that they never got put on. That leaves a few persons experimenting with only the PAC filter. The last legitimate person contacting me wanted to know if my normal proxy files would beat those expensive subscriptions to anti-porn services could be matched by me. My response was that even the pornproxy files would not compete but that CyberPatrol, NetNarry, or even the free K-9 would give them comparable blocking to the expensive ad-blocking services. So, the major visible reason for SecureMecca.com is the conduit out for the blocked cookie list used in Cookie-Safe. The invisible reason is as a download venue for the LDS Temple pictures that I collate and provide GoogleEarth location pointers (I AM THE SOLE PERSON CREATING THE GOOGLE EARTH LOCATIONS) for: http://securemecca.com/WallPaper/ The GoogleEarth locations are provided under this GPL license: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl-2.1.html Everything at SecureMecca.com (except for the pictures that belong to the people that own them as indicated in the Copyrights.txt file) are covered by a GPL license, In case you don't know what that means, it basically means that it is there with no warranty what so ever. It may even cause harm. It is hoped that it would help. But since probably nobody but me is using the hosts file and PAC filter full time, the only possible person that can be harmed by it is myself! So maybe Eric Phelps who has HostsFile.org is right. He wanted to close down. I told him to go ahead. No doubt the FBI will help Alexander Kowalski to sue me.
